Once again our partners in CENS provided us with a memorable and most enjoyable Napoleonic weekend in Czechia. The weather was kind (much warmer than last year) and although there were some concerns about the “battlefield” being too wet, the work beforehand to scatter straw was very successful and the ground was fine. Saturday’s battle went very well and safely, although we allies did have to work very hard in order to lose! 🙂 Perhaps one year we will change history! The celebration at the Peace Monument on Sunday was as atmospheric as always.
From a personal point of view it was wonderful to meet so many old friends once again, and this, together with the wonderful hospitality of the Czech people, is one of the very special features of this event.
Special thanks must go to Miroslav Jandora, Ondrej Tupy, and Jakub Samek for working hard to see that everything was in place for the event. Many participants do not realize the tremendous problems that must be coped by the production team, many of them even at the last moment under pressure!
Thanks must also go to Ivan Vystrcil and Libor Fojtu for commanding the battle, never an easy task.
