THE AUSTERLITZ BATTLEFIELD
The Project Austerlitz, the Central European Napoleonic Society, the Old post of Pozoritz and the village of Prace organize, at the occasion of the 246th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte, the Napoleonic days 2015 held at the Old post and in Prace from the 14 till the 16th august 2015.
The Napoleonic Days will mark also the 210th anniversary of the 1805 campagin, it’s commemoration will culminate during the winter Austerlitz 2015 event with 2000 re-enactors and 100 horses (4-6 december).
On friday 14th august in the afternoon the troops will start to build their camp near the Old post of Pozoritz which has been re-opened after a reconstuction a few months ago. On saturday the visitors may witness the camplife and drill of the napoleonic troops, and at noon a parade of the french regiments will take place in the farmyard of the Old post to mark the Napoleon’s anniversary. At dusk the troops would march to the positions of the austrian Frierenberger’s artillery positions to remember the major’s role during the final phase of the battle of Austerlitz by a few artillery volleys. A military and civilian celebration of Napoleon’s birthday, Saint Napoléon, will follow, alternatively a celebration of the Emperor’s departure to the St-Helena island (7th august; in 1815 Napoleon celebrated his anniversary on the board of the HMS Northumberland) for those who do not really appreciate the personage. On sunday the program consists of a re-enactment skirmish near the Old post and a laying of wreath in the village of Prace, a commemoration of the beggining of the 1805 campaign (end of august 1805). Members and guests of the C.E.N.S. and it’s guests will participate at the event. The camp will be placed near the monument dedicated to the killed horses of the Austerlitz battle in 2012.
