Regulation for Handling and Shooting Historical Short Firearms

 

This Regulation for handling and shooting historical firearms (further as Regulation) serves the purpose of enhancement of the safety by firing these weapons and their equivalents. This Regulation does not solve the loading of the weapons according to historical sources. It is necessary to approach these weapons with maximal caution as they might cause – if mishandled – very serious consequences.

 

  1. During the handling and shooting, each individual is obliged to take maximal care so he/she would not cause any harm and would not put in danger health or life of his/her own or other persons.
  2. It is only possible to handle the weapon according to instructions of the commander or other authorized person. Any unruly shooting of individual/s or groups without permission is forbidden.
  3. While carrying the weapon (e.g. musket with attached bayonet) the participants must avoid improper way of handling or carrying so he/she would not cause any harm and would not put in danger health or life of his/her own or other persons. While carried the weapon must be UNLOADED except the area of the battle reconstruction.
  4. The weapon can be loaded on the sign of the commanding person and according to the previously given procedure. For the shooting, it is only allowed to use the black powder in the amount specified for the particular weapon prescribed by the producer.
  5. Immediately after the end of every shooting, the commander is obliged to carry on the inspection of weapons of his subordinates.
  6. The weapon must be in proper technical condition. The organizer reserves the right to check the weapons. In case the weapon does not match the required technical and safety criteria, its holder might be excluded from the event without any compensation.
  7. The weapon and its holder are required to comply with particular specifications of the legislation of the Czech Republic, and mainly the Weapons and Ammunition Act Nr. 119/2002 statute.
  8. It is ordered to use only paper cartridges fixed with the paper tape or packed cartridges. The weight of the powder filling can not exceed 8g per cartridge. It is strictly forbidden to use cartridges fixed with plastic or analogical tapes or cartridges fixed with staples.
  9. The shooting can be executed only on the sign of the commanding person and only in the distance at least 30 meters from objects or persons in the line of fire. The nozzle MUST be directed out of the standing person/s.
  10. During the loading or manipulation with the weapon and the black powder it is forbidden to eat, drink or smoke or working with the open fire.
  11. Any handling of the weapon is forbidden to persons under the influence of alcohol. It is also forbidden to consume alcohol before or during the handling of the weapon and during the common exhibitions.
